THE STABLES EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
THE STABLES EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
The Stables holds a series of unaffiliated show jumping shows throughout the winter, both in the run-up to and following Christmas.
Many people ask why we hold shows in the winter. The answer is simple; the course is set up in our indoor school, meaning the competition can go ahead whatever the weather and the riders stay dry as they jump.
At The Stables, we pride ourselves on running friendly and relaxed events. We place the emphasis on fun and as a result, we don't insist that you wear full show jumping attire to compete. However, some form of clothing is mandatory.
We also don't eliminate riders for multiple faults either; we feel it is far more beneficial for the rider to get round the course, even if they won't get placed. This is particularly true when it comes to younger riders.
For the 2011/12 season, we have changed the format slightly from pervious years, concentrating on the lower classes and putting more emphasis on fun and rider development. We’ve also added a couple of additional activities, to make sure that riders can enjoy the best fun and competition at every event.
We will be running one Clear Round at the beginning of every day, at 1’. There will then be three Peter Pan classes, 1‘, 1’6” and 1’6” pairs, all with optional lead-rein. This will be followed by an Open Peter Pan, for rider/pony combinations who have not had an unaffiliated win at this height or above, with 2‘ fences. This will also be a qualifier for the Chiltern & Thames Rider winter Show series.
There will be another clear round session, at 2’3” before the fun class, to be decided on the day and this will either be a Chase Me Charlie, accumulator, a speed round or similar, with 2’ or 2’3” fences. There will then be the Pre-Novice (2’3”) and Novice (2’6”) classes, the last also a qualifier for Chiltern & Thames.
All the above classes and clear round will take place in the indoor school, as in previous years. In addition to the competition on selected shows though, will be clear round jumping in the outdoor jumping paddock, which will run all day and the fence height will increase as the day goes on. There will also be a gymkhana at selected shows, beginning at 3pm, with an entry fee of £2 per race of £10 for all six.
Pre-entries are welcome but just as welcome are those who decide on the day whether they want to enjoy a day’s relaxed yet challenging show jumping. Everyone is welcome, irrespective of their ability or experience and all are encouraged to go home with a smile. And hopefully, a rosette or two…
There will also be a full range of hot and cold food available throughout each show day.
